Your journey largely follows the Annapurna Circuit Trek though for a breath of variety, an alternate route through Thorong La Pass is available. Whether you’d prefer starting from Jomsom instead of Besisahar or customizing the route to your preferences, your Sherpa team and planners will tailor the experience to suit your style. The trail typically veers off at Ledar, where the climb diverges from the classic circuit up to that point, your adventure parallels the standard Annapurna Circuit trek.
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, you’ll have time to rest and recover from your journey. In the evening, we conduct a short briefing about the trek and climbing program. Today is dedicated to expedition preparation and equipment checks. Your climbing guide will assist you in reviewing gear to ensure that everything meets the necessary climbing standards. Expedition permits and official paperwork are finalized. If needed, you may do any remaining shopping for personal gear. Enjoy a relaxed evening exploring Kathmandu’s cultural sites or markets. Start your journey with a scenic drive along the winding roads that follow the Trishuli and Marshyangdi rivers. The drive passes through picturesque terraced fields, riverside settlements, and lush hills. As you approach the Annapurna region, the landscape becomes increasingly rugged and mountainous. Depending on road conditions, you’ll reach Syange or Jagat, the starting point of the trek. Overnight at a mountain lodge.
The trek begins with trails carved into cliffs and lush forests along the Marshyangdi River. Crossing suspension bridges and passing beautiful waterfalls, the route offers a mix of cultural villages and natural scenery. Traditional Gurung and Magar settlements along the way provide insights into local life. By afternoon, you reach Dharapani, a key stop on the Annapurna Circuit. Overnight in a teahouse.
Continue your trek through rhododendron and pine forests, enjoying fresh mountain air and views of Lamjung Himal. Chame, the administrative center of Manang district, welcomes you with hot springs and panoramic scenery. The trail gradually gains altitude, allowing your body to acclimatize naturally. Today’s trek takes you through dense forests and past long suspension bridges offering dramatic river views. As you climb higher, the valley opens up into wide alpine meadows surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Upon reaching Pisang, enjoy stunning views of Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, and Pisang Peak. Explore Upper Pisang’s monastery and traditional houses. Overnight in Pisang.
Follow the high route for some of the best views of the Annapurna range. The path passes Tibetan-style villages, prayer wheels, and serene landscapes. As you approach Manang, you’ll notice the dramatic change in scenery dry, windy, and distinctly Himalayan. Manang is a vibrant high-altitude town known for its bakeries and mountain culture. Spend this important rest day adjusting to the altitude. Short hikes to Gangapurna Lake, Bhojo Gompa, or viewpoints above Manang help speed acclimatization. Explore the village, visit the Himalayan Rescue Association clinic, or learn about mountain safety. Enjoy the unique culture and hospitality of the Manang people. Overnight in Manang.
Leaving Manang, the vegetation becomes sparse and the air thinner. The trail climbs gently through alpine meadows and yak pastures, offering impressive views of the Chulu range. Leder is a small settlement with a few basic lodges, perfect for acclimatization before heading higher. Relax in the peaceful mountain atmosphere. Overnight in Leder.
Today’s trek leads you into a more remote and rugged section of the Annapurna region. The trail winds through high alpine terrain as you make your way toward Chulu West Base Camp. Views of the Chulu massif and other peaks dominate the landscape. At base camp, tents are set up, and your climbing team prepares for the ascent ahead. Overnight in tents.
The ascent to Camp I begins with a steep and strenuous climb over rocky and snowy slopes. You’ll use technical climbing equipment, guided by experienced Sherpas. The camp is set on a safe ridge with amazing mountain views. After reaching Camp I, you rest and hydrate to prepare for further ascent. Overnight in tents.
This rest day is crucial for safe climbing. Spend the day acclimatizing, practicing rope techniques, and reviewing safety instructions. Your guide will ensure your equipment is properly adjusted and ready. Enjoy serene alpine surroundings and rest for the tough climb ahead. Overnight in tents.
Continue ascending through more technical terrain with snow and ice sections. The climb becomes more challenging as altitude increases, requiring slow and steady progress. Camp II is established at a higher, colder, and windier location. After reaching, the team prepares for the summit push. Early sleep for the next day’s climb. Overnight in tents.
Summit day begins before dawn with a steep climb using fixed ropes and crampons. After reaching the top of Chulu West (6,419m), enjoy breathtaking Himalayan views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and the surrounding peaks. Celebrate a successful summit, then descend carefully back to Camp I. Overnight in tents.
Descend all the way to Leder, enjoying easier breathing and warmer temperatures. The long descent passes through familiar alpine trails. Once in Leder, relax at the teahouse and enjoy a hearty meal. Overnight in Leder.
An extra day kept for weather delays or adjustment in the climbing schedule. If unused, you can spend the day exploring the area or relaxing. Helps ensure a safe and flexible expedition. Overnight in Leder.
Rejoin the Annapurna Circuit trail as you trek toward Thorong Phedi. The terrain becomes rocky and steep, leading to the base of the famous Thorong La Pass. Prepare for the next day's high pass crossing. Overnight in Thorong Phedi.
Begin very early to cross Thorong La (5,416m), one of the world’s highest trekking passes. The journey is demanding but rewarding with panoramic Himalaya views. Descend to the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath, then continue to Jomsom. Overnight in Jomsom.
Enjoy a short, scenic mountain flight to Pokhara. The rest of the day is free for relaxation, lakeside walks, or optional adventure activities. Overnight in Pokhara.
Return to Kathmandu by a comfortable drive. Check into your hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner or last-minute shopping. Overnight in Kathmandu.
